About this Website: Ongoing Projects

Article by Steve N. Jackson (v. 1)

Currently their are ongoing plans for this website:

1) Peer review of articles. All articles will be reviewed by acknowledged specialist in the field of french rifles to reduce inaccuracy and make sure that the discussions in each case are current. The goal for most artices is to produce a readable, accurate, article of general interest.

2) Retake photographs and expand collection of images taken by me for the website. Currently most photos are produced using digital still cameras without proper lighting, or are drawn by me from tracings of photos taken of weapons in my collection.

3) Find and vet additional archival photographs of the weapons in actual use. In particular the author would like to gain access to photo-archives in France. Additionally, inquiries of GIAT about gaining access to the MAS and MAC museum to take high quality stills have gone unanswered (likely because of my terrible French) which will be a goal eventually, which will be important if there will ever be an archival quality image of a Meunier rifle.

4) Find weapons owned by people in the state of Washington that can be photographed.

5) Develop a shared resource archive of oral history, images with clear copyright, and other information to assist other historians with their own studies on these weapons.

6) Complete articles that are currently awaiting further research.

7) Figure how I can write Genevieve de Galard-Terraube into one of my stories on French rifles when she never carried on.
